Micro Weddings & Why I love them.

A Micro Wedding by definition is “an intimate affair, typically with 50 or fewer guests that still features time-honored traditions but on a much smaller scale”. Yes to all of that.

So here’s what you need to know about me FIRST. I LOVE love. Like really and truly, I have all the heart eyes for people that have found their person and make the choice and commitment to spend their lives together loving and laughing through each season. There is nothing more wonderful, short of becoming a parent (for those that want that!).

All that to say- Weddings are a big deal, whether they are big or small. I personally and professionally find that I do my best work in a more intimate setting because it allows be to see the moods and relationships and translate it to my camera in a really authentic way- which is why I am here for those micro weddings! I have a handful of them coming up this year and I cannot begin to express how excited I am about them!

Another point I’ll make in favor of micro weddings is the creativity that a smaller setting allows you! You aren’t setting 70 tables, so maybe you CAN get those crazy wildflowers and those antique chargers and splurge a bit more on your one of a kind dress that just makes your heart sing. (yes, these are all things I would do if I were to EVER do a vow renewal!) A smaller, more intimate ceremony and reception might be just the ticket if you find that large events are overwhelming and you find yourself at the end of the night saying “this whole thing was a blur and I barely remember any of it!” If you are anything like me, the idea of a moderate amount of people that I truly love and know, at a fabulous venue, with amazing food and drink, music on point, and a photographer with a great eye (hint hint wink wink) sounds incredible and….SIGN ME UP.

Now this does NOT mean that big, traditional gorgeous weddings aren’t amazing! Every bride and groom have different visions and expectations for their big day- and at the END of said day- the important thing is that you love how it went and you feel undeniably loved by everyone you surrounded yourself with! I myself had an ALMOST micro wedding. 80 guests at a winery. And it was perfect for us.

So…if you are engaged and planning your big (or intimate!) day, consider all the trends, all the options, and by all means- if you like a photojournalistic style for your images- I am your girl! Hop on over to my Investment page and let’s chat!
